Garments Vintage: Costumes from Film and Television
About half of the inventory at Garments Vintage comes from current TV and film productions. The two owners, Astrid Lafos and Sandra Keil, themselves worked as costume designers and thus acquire goods that never appear in regular retail. However, they do not reveal the exact origin of a coat or a Burberry jacket.
Alongside these are vintage pieces from the sixties, seventies, and eighties, as well as ethnic pieces with large-format embroidery. For these, the craftsmanship is more important than the label. In between, there are combinations one might not think of themselves: a historical caftan with a Missoni silk cardigan over it.
Two Locations of Garments Vintage
The store has two locations in Berlin, on Linienstraße in Mitte and in Prenzlauer Berg. The assortments differ, so a visit to both is worthwhile for anyone looking for something specific.
The space is well-organized, and the pieces are hung rather than stacked. If you plan an hour, you’ll have seen the inventory and had enough time to try on individual items at your leisure.
