Since 1992 the brewery Brauhaus Georgbraeu in Berlin-Mitte produces its own dark and light beer. With its beer garden located directly at the river Spree this place is great to enjoy a mild summer evening. It has enough space and about 400 people get to sit at the waterfront.
The Georgbraeu is named after Saint George. The impressive bronze sculpture of the dragon slayer, a work by the sculptor August Kiss from 1853, was restored a few years ago and offers its impressive protection to beer-drinking guests right next to the beer garden.
Inside the building you can find eight different rooms with typical Berlin flair. Here you can order some typical German dishes such as knuckle of pork with sauerkraut, but the menu also offers other fish and meat as well as vegetarian dishes. The menu is handed out in seven different languages like English, Spanish, Russian and Chinese.
