When it comes to burgers the Shiso restaurant in Mitte is one of the trending addresses in Berlin City. The petite store is often pretty crowded as everybody is longing to put their hands on one of the tasty Asian burgers.
You won’t be disappointed though. If you like burgers and the taste of Asian cuisine, you’ll love Shiso. All patties are made of fine Black Angus beef, even though you might want to opt for an upgrade to Wagyu beef – which is one of the most desired breeds of cattle and very expensive, too. Tasty sauces and Asian spices add to the flavor of these burgers.
The corresponding Shiso burger though isn’t made of beef, it’s with marinated tuna, coriander, chili-mayonnaise and Terriyaki sauce. Salmon, Black Tiger prawn and veggie burgers are also offered on the menu.
The burgers aren’t too big which might not be such a bad thing so you’ll still be able to enjoy some of the special sides Shiso offers. Besides normal and sweet potato fries you can also order twisted potatos, coleslaw, Kimchi and Edamame beans. Those immature soybeans are often found in the Asian cuisine and just recently hit Berlin’s restaurant scene. You shouldn’t eat the shell though; just go for the beans inside.
The restaurant is rather tiny and the interior is quite simple. Mitte-like you should order a table in advance if you want to it there, but you won’t get it for more than an hour. In return the staff works pretty fast and is very friendly.
