This hip restaurant situated in Bar Tausend on Schiffbauer Damm in Mitte is not easy to find. Its entrance is hidden under the S-Bahn arches Friedrichstraße. If you want to get in, you need to ring the bell of the iron door of number 11, a bouncer will open the door and politely ask for your reservation number. Once past the first obstacle, you will be taken through Bar Tausend to the backroom where you will find the Cantina.
The guests enter a minimalistic dining room with black interior, an open kitchen in which you can see the chefs work their magic. The Cantina offers a mix of Iberian, Japanese and South American dishes. The specialty of the house are for example Miso Cod, a grilled piece of cod marinated in miso paste and “Tuna Tanaki”, tuna with herb risotto and foie gras. You can also get Pimientos del Patrón (fried green peppers seasoned with marine salt), Sashimi Salad or a steak of US Prime Beef.
For dessert they serve you a combination of a piece of warm chocolate cake with ice cream of Green Tea or a crème brûlée made of Japanese beans.
