Neukölln
A particularly cozy Greek restaurant with family hospitality is the Taverna Olympia in Emser Straße in Neukölln. The Greek owners Ioannis and Dorothea have been running the cozy taverna in Berlin since 1992. Greek-style columns at the entrance and in the guest room, red and white checked tablecloths and pictures of Greece create a typical Greek flair. The beautiful illumination by candles and warm lamplight create a pleasing and welcoming atmosphere.
Taverna Olympia’s menu offers any sort of Greek food you desire. Soups, salads and cold meze such as olives, hot peppers, zaziki, sheep’s cheese, fish salad or stuffed grape leaves are served as starters. Also warm Greek meze like roasted eggplants and zucchini, puff pastry and grilled pork rolls are offered. As a main course Gyros in a variety of home-made variants with metaxa sauce, mushrooms or garlic is served. Souflaki, lamb chop and chicken breast come from the grill. Also recommended are the varied casseroles and fish variations, including squid rings and prawns. In addition to the menu, there is a daily menu offered. After the main course Greek desserts like halva, ice cream and Greek yoghurt are served. The wine list, which is suitable for the menu, only offers red and white wines from Greek wine-growing regions such as Pelepones, Naoussa or Patras.
For a lot of comfort in winter, there is a cozy fireplace room in the Taverna. This place can not only be used for romantic dinners, but also for private parties.
In summer there are additional tables on the street in front of the Taverna.
