Schöneberg

Anyone who thinks Indian food is only ever spicy has never been to the Maharadscha in Berlin-Schöneberg. Here, guests decide for themselves how much fire they can handle – and actually feel like a king. No coincidence: “Maharadscha” comes from Sanskrit and means exactly that: king. And that is exactly how you are treated here.
Since 1984, the Indian restaurant on Fuggerstrasse has been spoiling its guests with authentic North Indian cuisine: fresh, aromatic and, on request, seasoned exactly the way you like it best. The motto “The customer is king” is not just a slogan on the wall here, but is taken seriously: Special requests are welcome, the team is attentive and welcoming, and cooking is always done after the order has been placed, as befits true craftsmanship.
Of course, we also tried it ourselves and were particularly impressed by the malai kofta: small balls of vegetables and cream cheese, served in a creamy curry sauce that tastes creamy, spicy and wonderfully round. Served with fresh basmati rice and a fluffy naan. That’s all you need for a successful evening.
The Maharadscha scores not only with taste, but also with warmth and atmosphere. Those who come here leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life at the door and are welcomed with a smile, a cup of tea or a mango lassi. Whether as a couple, with the family or for an after-work dinner with colleagues, a visit to Maharadscha is a little culinary break. And a firm place in our top 10 of the best Indian restaurants in Berlin.
