The origin of the Contemporary Dining Bar Night Kitchen is in Tel Aviv. Now; Gilad Heimann opened Night Kitchen, a mix of restaurant and bar, in Berlin – together with Shaul Magulies, who already owns the successful restaurants House of Small Wonder and Zenkichi in Berlin. The Night Kitchen can be found inside the Heckmann Höfe at Oranienburger Straße. Night Kitchen is a wonderfully rustic bar with a long wooden counter, stone tiles, patterned wallpaper, tables with bar stools, subdued light and decoration of copper pots.
Those who visit Night Kitchen should show up with a handful of friends. At Night Kitchen they serve Mediterranean food in small tapas-sized portions that can be happily shared and sampled by everyone at the table. The dishes are creative and have Israeli influences as they come with e.g., Tahini butter or Tabbouleh. Guests can for example choose between Octupus à la Plancha with Jerusalem artichoke, green pea horseradish puree and macadamia nuts, hanger steak with homemade ravioli with onion jam and Dijon mustard or roasted beetroot with pickled kohlrabi, walnuts and hazelnut vinaigrette. The dessert menu includes tiramisu and cheesecake. For dinner there is a great selection of homemade cocktails such as a lassi from ouzo, ayran and honey or a rough margarita with a decent pinch of chili. As a special feature the Night Kitchen offers a personalized “family style”-menu prepared for the entire table to be shared.
The garden in the green courtyard of the Night Kitchen is especially recommendable during summer. Idyllically designed with wooden tables and fairy lights guests can enjoy balmy evenings or celebrate private events.
