Prenzlauer Berg

In the restored rooms of a former school on famous Kastanienallee in Prenzlauer Berg, the restaurant “Die Schule” serves a modern German cuisine. The 3-course menus can be arranged individually out of starter, main course and dessert. As a starter, for example, blood sausage with baked sauerkraut or lukewarm butter mackerel with roasted toast bread are offered. As a main course here, for example, two kinds of lamb or coq au vin of maize chicken are served. Dessert versions such as Kaiserschmarren with plum-tonka-bean-ragout or fired vanilla cream with macadamia ice cream finish off the dinner.
The specialty in the restaurant “Die Schule” are German tapas. You can choose, among other, between mini-baked potatoes with herbal quark, small schnitzel and mini-knuckle, but also from potato buffer or small currywurst in a small bowl. Depending on your appetite, six or nine German tapas can be ordered. At lunchtime, different dishes ranging from 4.50 to 7 euros are offered here, such as cabbage rolls, steaks or turkey breast steaks.
The guest room itself is modern and generous. The elegant décor is roughly similar to that of a school canteen, dark wood furniture combined with a dark floor, bright walls and red accents. The fine table decoration with candles and fabric pies ensures a nice atmosphere. On the walls are large-format photographs of the historical Berlin. Also nice is the spacious outdoor area with a terrace on the lively Kastanienallee. If the colorful hustle and bustle of the Kastanienallee gets too loud, the restaurant also offers a cozy courtyard.
