Next to fresh fruit and vegetable some vendor specialise on Wednesday and especially on Saturday to sell street food near St. Matthias Kirche on Winterfeldtplatz. Very popular here are Maultaschen, with filled with meat or for vegetarians with spinach and cheese, garnished with potato salad as a side dish.
As dessert we recommend a piece of Strudel, made by Wiener Strudel-Manufaktur, for example as “Topfenstrudel mit Marillen” or an ice cream in summer. Additional food vendors offer pelmenis, currywurst, crêpes, Oriental, Chinese or other international specialities.
Once you’re satiated, the market stroll can be continued, shopping here for fruit and veggies, most of it organic, but also for sausages, cheese and bread.
