The Victorian Family Tea Time and the Afternoon Tea at the 5 Star Superior Hotel Regent Berlin at Gendarmenmarkt Tea stylishly celebrate the British tea culture in the in-house Tea & Lobby Lounge: in a noble ambience, with high-quality teas, exquisite scones and beautiful china.
Roland Pröh, certified Tea Master Gold, prepares the English tea blend the traditional Victorian way. During Victorian Afternoon Tea, which always takes place on weekends in the Regent, loose tea leaves are put in the the teapot, which is then filled with boiling water. The leaves remain in the pot, and hot water and milk are served on the side. To keep the tea nice and hot, a hand-made tea cosy covers the teapot. Unlike the classic afternoon tea, at the Victorian Afternoon Tea sweet and savoury treats are served at the same time and presented on flowery painted china.
Every day from 2 p.m. onwards, a classic Afternoon Tea, is served at the Regent’s Tea & Lobby Lounge at Gendarmenmarkt. Guests can choose from a selection of 40 different kinds of tea, such as Ronnefeldt or Fortnum & Mason. Guests are encouraged to smell the different teas before making a decision. The lobby lounge, with its comfortable regency style armchairs, leather sofas in front of an open fireplace and soothing piano music, is an ideal place to escape the everyday hustle and bustle of the capital. To accompany the tea, the Tea Master serves among others delicious cucumber-wholemeal-tramezzini, salmon-tomato-tramezzini and egg-salad-basil-tramezzini on elegantly tiered étagères. These are followed by the traditional British scones with homemade strawberry jam and original clotted cream as well as delicious tarts and sweets.
The Royal Afternoon Tea is also suitable for special occasions, where a glass of white champagne is served with the tea.
