The in-restaurant Katz Orange is popular above all with the creative crowd of Berlin-Mitte. The interior combines rustic wooden furniture with old brick walls in what used to be an old brewery. The interior also shows ethnic elements of South America, since the restaurant legend has it that the owner of the place was inspired by an orange cat he encountered while travelling South America.
Where the cuisine is concerned, the guests do not travel that far but stay in Germany. The Katz Orange kitchen works with regional premium ingredients like tartar of Brandenburg venison, or goat quark with quinoa-falafel.
A true speciality of the place can be found under the heading “Slow Cuisine” on the menu: this is where you will find the pork Duroc which gets roasted for 12 hours at a low temperature and served with its own gravy. In a similar fashion you can also enjoy salt meadow lamb and short ribs from free range cattle.
Finish your evening after a nice dinner at the bar of Katz Orange with one of the house cocktails like “Grape me” which combines the grape licor Pisco with basil and mint or one of the spirits from small German distilleries.
