Berlin’s beautiful waterfront restaurants can look forward to a new name: Carl & Sophie. The newly opened restaurant is located on Bolle’s historic 1890 Meierei grounds in Moabit, directly on the Spree with a view of beautiful buildings from the Wilhelminian period on the other bank of the Spree. The restaurant’s details and interior reflect the history of the old dairy: old industrial lamps, beautiful wooden tables and comfortable wicker chairs give Carl & Sophie a very special charm. The restaurant is named after the first names of the Meierei founders Carl & Sophie Bolle.
Chef Maico Orso wants to offer a modern cuisine with diverse influences. He masters his craft: he has worked in the Bieberbau, in the Duke and most recently in the restaurant Gärtnerei. With compositions such as halibut with navettes, spring onion and ginger, cauliflower “Polish style” or braised veal breast with parsley and salted lemon, Orso sets surprising accents. He can’t be committed to one region. Everything he cooks is all about good and healthy food. The wine list focuses on Germany and Spain.
The menu at Carl & Sophie is rounded off by homemade crispy bread, nut butter refined with sea salt and homemade caramel – in memory of the Meierei founder Carl Bolle. Even the accessories such as milk jugs, butter paper and small pots are lovingly reminiscent of the old dairy.
The restaurant Carl & Sophie is centrally located but still far away from traffic noise in a pedestrian zone directly on the river Spree. With its daily changing lunch menu, it is just the right place for lunch breaks or business appointments for lunch, but also for small family lunches or a nice, enjoyable dinner in the evening.
The Restaurant Carl & Sophie has 60 seats inside and 50 outside and is open daily from 12:00 to 1:00.
