Charlottenburg

You can't get lucky enough and the wine bar Schwein in Berlin-Charlottenburg stands for culinary happiness with exquisite wines, delicious long drinks and good food.

The wine bar Schwein has moved from a hip centre location in Berlin-Mitte to the much more dignified Charlottenburg. However, the concept of the Weinbar remains essentially the same: Wine and happiness stand on three pillars: wine, food and long drinks. First the wine bar opened, as mentioned, in Berlin-Mitte and was enthusiastically celebrated there by gastronomic critics and fans. When it closed in Mitte, the wine bar was sorely missed by many wine lovers and gourmets. In the meantime, the Schwein has found a new home in Berlin-Charlottenburg near Savignyplatz and offers “bistronomy”, which is supposed to be a mix of bistro and gastronomy on a high level.

The Schwein appeals to people who enjoy food and offers them many delights, regardless of whether the guest chooses a 5-course menu or just a glass of wine. In Charlottenburg, probably more guests than in Mitte take the time for an extensive menu. This is worth it, because the cuisine is excellent and brings fine dining in harmony with bar food. Chef Christopher Kümper knows his craft and has worked with star chefs such as Nils Henkel in Lerbach, Daniel Boulud in New York Station and André Chiang in Singapore. Even host David Monnie is no stranger in Berlin. He was head of the Lützowbar for a long time.

The kitchen is characterised by international style, but focuses on regional products. The repertoire of the wine bar includes 165 varieties of good wines and 100 varieties of gin. Curious guests can choose a surprise menu with corresponding wines. A room with a fireplace provides a cosy atmosphere in the dark season. In summer, a terrace with seating for around 40 attracts the guests. Host David Monnie and chef de cuisine Christopher Kümper do everything they can to ensure that their guests feel completely at home.
