The design hotel Ku’Damm 101, situated at Kurfürstendamm in Berlin, pursues a clear design concept, clear lines, no frills, no plush, but functionality and purism. The lobby welcomes guests with honeycomb looking white fabric-covered pillars of light, contrasting nicely with the dark floor.
The background lighting changes depending on the season. The flexible seating furniture, designed for the hotel in a dark blackberry tone, harmonizes with the “Pony Chairs” by Eerio Arnio. The counter and the reception are made of fine wood.
The 4-star hotel, opened in 2003, was designed by the Zurich creative office Kessler + Kessler and is the only hotel in Germany that is based on the colour series and design principled of the famous architect and Bauhaus mentor Le Corbusier. The house with the sleek design perceives itself as a young, urban lifestyle hotel.
Many visitors to the International Congress Centre Berlin (ICC) stay at the hotel Ku’Damm 101, as it is conveniently located nearby the ICC and also offers business travellers a wide range of meeting and conference rooms for all types of events. Yet many city tourists also belong to the guests. The hotel has 171 spacious rooms and can therefore accommodate larger groups. All rooms have WLAN access such as high-speed DSL, both free of charge.
After a busy day at the ICC, the guest can relax in a small but fine spa with steam room. Good to know for allergy sufferers: The rooms are carpet-free and are covered instead with non-allergenic natural rubber. 14 rooms on the first floor are accessible barrier-free.
The breakfast restaurant on the 7th floor offers a magnificent view to the City West, the shopping boulevard Kurfürstendamm, Gedächtniskirche (Memorial Church) and Siegessäule (Victory Column). Here family celebrations, birthdays and weddings can be arranged. A more intimate setting is the city garden, where barbecues for up to 30 people are possible.
