The feeling of pure luxury is conveyed by Villa Contessa in Bad Saarow, a small lakeside resort close to Berlin. If you walk through the garden towards the villa you have the impression to find yourself in a romantic fairytale movie. With only eight lovingly furnished rooms and suites, Villa Contessa is Germany’s smallest first class hotel.
The elegant villa is more than a hundred years old. It was built in 1910 as an exclusive summer residence for fine Berlin society, such as movie stars, industrialists, writers and artists. The parties on the terrace of the villa in the roaring twenties must have been legendary. The location of the villa on exclusive lakeside property on the shores of Lake Scharmützel, surrounded by an idyllic park and villa landscape, is spectacular.
The guests are spoiled here all around. The Villa Contessa Spa offers a lovingly designed wellness area on small but fine 300 sqm. The spa offers a heated pool with a fantastic lake view, spacious relaxation area and sun terraces. A Roman steam bath, bio-sauna, Finnish sauna, heated bench and a generous treatment area for massages, beauty treatments, scrubs, wraps etc. ensure all-round relaxation.
The breakfast buffet with ornately decorated fruit looks almost like a still life and leaves nothing to be desired. Also external guests can have breakfast here. The small restaurant offers contemporary cuisine, which mainly uses high-quality regional products and has a wonderful view to Lake Scharmützel. In the afternoon, the house focuses on coffee culture and serves tempting cakes and pies, which are baked by hand in the in-house patisserie.
For almost two years, from February 2016 to November 2017, the Villa Contessa has been extensively renovated. The reopening took place on 1 December 2017. The house is only 45 minutes by car from the Berlin city limits and can also be easily reached by train.
This small first class hotel is therefore ideally suited for a romantic weekend for lovers, small weddings or just a short break from Berlin.
