This memorial site commemorates the victims of gunfire and barbed wire at the Berlin Wall and is named after Günter Litfin, the first victim of precision shooting at the Wall.
Litfin died on 24 August 1961 when trying to escape.
The memorial site was created by Litfin’s brother in August 2003 and is maintained by a non-profit association. A former guard tower accomodates the memorial site.
