Hohenschönhausen
The bike tour through Lichtenberg starts at the memorial site of the former Stasi remand prison in Hohenschönhausen (former GDR). From there you ride along the street to Miesis-van-der-Rohe-Haus which is a heritage building and exhibition center for modern architecture. It was built by Bauhaus architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for printer Karl Lemke whose private house “Haus Lemke” was renovated in 2002 and nowadays is part of the museum.
The further you go, the greener it gets. You will pass three lakes on your tour. If you got some time you can even go to the bathing lake Strandbad Orankesee in Berlin-Alt-Hohenschönhausen. After Orankesee you ride until the nature wildlife resort Falkenberger Lurch. From there you go back to where you started – the Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial.
