In the North of Berlin right behind the multistory building of Märkisches Viertel in Berlin-Reinickendorf near the Pankow district you can find Freizeitpark Lübars – a wide recreation park and a popular destination to take a nature trip throughout the whole year.
The area offers lots of path to hike, ride a bike or even go horseback riding. The center of the park is an artificial hill of about 85 meters called “Lübarser Höhe“. When the sun is shining you can enjoy the view from here or fly a kite. A skating path is also great fun during the warmer season. In winter the 300 meters long hill offers flood light so people can go skiing or sledding down the hill.
Families especially enjoy the adventure playground with lots of monkey bars and other options for kids to slide and climb. An additional water playground brings joy during warm summer days. An old pheasantry with barns and a farm shop offers insights into agriculture.
The hiking paths lead you from Freizeitpark Lübars to its surrounding fields in Pankow or the close environs of Brandenburg. A stroll through those fields is great throughout the whole year as the landscape is always beautiful and has a relaxing effect on people. It’s sometimes hard to believe that you’re still in Berlin. It#s just in the far distant to the East that you can see the top of the famous TV tower.
