Whether as an excursion destination, cycle tour stage or simply to enjoy with all the senses: The Sanddorn-Garten Petzow (Sea Buckthorn Garden) with its three-hectare garden, café, restaurant and farm shops is beautifully situated directly on Lake Glindow, not far from Potsdam. Here the colour orange shines as far as the eye can see.
In 1998, sea buckthorn lover Christine Berger took over a three-hectare gardening site in Havelland, very close to Petzow Castle. Her idea was to create a further excursion destination in the Werder/Havel tourism region with a sea buckthorn and wild fruit adventure garden. Here the Sanddorn-Garten (Sea Buckthorn Garden) was created, where botanically interested people, excursionists, cyclists and Brandenburg tourists can get to know the variety of the Sea Buckthorn and the possibilities of using the orange-coloured fruit.
Only a few years later, the Café-Restaurant Orangerie was added, where you can enjoy sea buckthorn specialities on a sun terrace overlooking Lake Glindow. The most recent achievement of the Sea Buckthorn Garden Petzow is the “glass jam production”. Here visitors can experience how delicious fruit spreads and jams are made from sea buckthorn. School classes or travel groups can book special guided tours in the glass production facility, which illustrate the diversity of sea buckthorn.
The location has a farm shop and a speciality shop where you can stock up on sea buckthorn products. Here you can find sea buckthorn in jam, juice, candy, liqueur and many other amazing variations. Christine Berger has developed more than 50 products from sea buckthorn from her own organic production. All products and delicacies like the sea buckthorn fruit spread with chili and guava originate from her own production of organic sea buckthorn in her garden.
The Sea Buckthorn Garden is located only about an hour’s drive southwest of Berlin, directly on Lake Glindow in Werder (Havel) in the district of Petzow.
