Park BBQs

In which parks of Berlin are you allowed to do a BBQ? And which one of them is the nicest? These are just two questions that the team of Top10 Berlin has researched for you, since sunny weather is synonymous to many Berliners with BBQ. If you don't have a garden or a balcony and feel like doing a BBQ session with some friends, often repairs to a park for some sizzling fun. Luckily there are the official barbecue places in Berlin. That's good to know, but there are still massive differences in terms of cleanliness, condition of the lawn and barbecue the BBQ crowd itself. Not to be forgotten - Where's the next restroom? An integral part of a nice BBQ are also a cool beer or two - which will inevitably make you want to powder your nose after a little while. The team of Top10 Berlin wishes all of you a smaching BBQ season. Attention: The individual district offices of Berlin are in charge of licensing BBQ areas, and they may even revoke the status at short notice. Please pay attention to the signs in your BBQ spot!

BBQ on Tempelhof Feld

Tempelhof

Currently, BBQs are not allowed at Tempelhofer Feld. It's worth a visit anyway - a few food stands are waiting for you. Tempelhofer Feld or "on Tempelhof" for short like many Berliners say, normally has the luxury of having three designated BBQ area. They are located near the entrances on Oderstraße, Columbiadamm and Tempelhofer Damm.

BBQ at Monbijoupark

Mitte

A „little gem“ for all BBQ fans is Mitte's Monbijoupark. It's an extremely well taken-care-of park planted with tulips and several areas for playing sports, for example a Basketball court or tables for playing ping pong. Do you need anything more to not be bored during your BBQ?

BBQ at Stadtpark Lichtenberg

Lichtenberg

Stadtpark Lichtenberg, despite being so close to the hip parts of Friedrichshain, is a wonderful tranquil oasis for Berliners.

BBQ at Görlitzer Park

Kreuzberg

Guys with dreadlocks who rather grill tofu than a real sausage, people playing the drums, large Turkish families and universtiy students - the BBQ crowd at Görlitzer Park is more than only a little diverse.

BBQ at Volkspark Friedrichshain

Friedrichshain

Normally, BBQs are allowed on Kleiner Bunkerberg in Volkspark Friedrichshain. Currently though it is mandatory to book your BBQ slot online via http://neuer-hain.de.

BBQ at Mauerpark

Prenzlauer Berg

Centrally located, popular but fairly grubby - that's Mauerpark. It's open season for BBQs there all over, except for a little grove of birches and next to the playground.

Treptow

Located between Club der Visionäre, Badeschiff and Arena Treptow, you will find the BBQ area Schlesischer Busch - ideal location for a pre-party weekend BBQ.

Lichtenberg

A bit off the beaten track but with the greenest grass in all of Berlin - that's the BBQ area of Berlin-Lichtenberg.

Hohenschönhausen

The BBQ area „An der Landmarke“ may be close to the city limits with Brandenburg, but scores with a gorgeous green, a really nice playground and lots of tranquility.

BBQ Area at Landschaftspark Johannisthal / Ostfuge

Treptow

Just like Tempelhofer Feld, the Landschaftspark Johannistal started its existence as an airfield. It was here that motorised aviation in Germany made its first leaps in 1909.
