A picnic destination with direct connection to the subway is Rudolph-Wilde-Park, starting right behind the townhall of Schöneberg. Perfect for all who do not want to drive distances just for a picnic.
The apperance of this small park of 7 hectares is defined above all by the intricate Carl-Zuckmayer-Bridge, under which the subway passes. This bridge was designed by the same architect who signed for KaDeWe. One one of the side, the bridge is framed in by a duck pond, on the other side, at a distance, is a large fountain. The central pillar of this is fountain is graced by a golden stag, the sigil of Schöneberg. The whole ensemble does exude a certain romantic flair.
A special tip for picnic friends is the nearby café “Lina Rothenberger”- The café offers a picnic basket rental in summer after prior reservation (24 – 48 hours). Anything can be had in their picnic baskets: quiche made of peas and peppermint, self-made lemonade to cream puffs filled with strawberry cream – their culinary variety is big enough to have several picnics and never repeat any treat.
