Urban Sounds to go

The team of Urban Sounds to go has created a unique combination of radio play and Berlin city walk.

You can pick up the mp3-players either on the spot in designated places in the neighbourhoods or download the audio files or the app at home before starting your audio tour through various parts of Berlin.

On the tour “Mitte-Schritte” (Steps through Mitte) you get to know Berlin landmarks such as Rotes Rathaus, Hackescher Markt and the TV Tower. You can hear for example how the GDR youth organisation “Junge Pioniere” (“Young Pioneers”) sang a hymn of praise to the TV Tower when it was being built.

On the Friedrichshain tour you meet acoustically a lady who lived on the former Stalinallee, in Friedenau you can listen to a song of the first German boy group and in Wedding the walk makes you discover old factories and creative studios.

Tours specially designed for families and children are the tours “Der Kater vom Helmholtzplatz” and “Zwischen den Welten”, talking about an area around Oberbaumbrücke linking Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg. Both tours are available in German only.
