Jazz aficionados are quite enthusiastic about the live music bar “The Hat”, which is situated at Lotte-Lenya arc in Berlin-Charlottenburg. The Hat is a New York-style bar with an atmosphere inspired by the 1920ies. Otherwise, it is a classic bar celebrating the origins of jazz. The bar has been recently founded in an area of Berlin near the zoo that is still in transition. This comparatively new bar thus definitely contributes to the upgrade of the City West of Berlin.
The ambiance of the bar itself is quite unspectacular: a very long wooden counter with classic wooden chairs and a small stage for the musicians. The bar is not very spacious, it has to find room in only one arch underneath the rails of the suburban train. If the musicians jam here, you can’t avoid the live music, you are just in the very middle of it.
The mood is dense within the brick stone walls, with the light, the glittering bottles behind the counter and the stirring, unplugged and handmade music.
The classic cocktails are well mixed and presented in beautiful cut glasses. The Hat Berlin, situated right opposite the Stage Theatre, is an old school jazz bar with jam sessions every night and free entry.
