The Bar Tausend is one of the most legendary locations in the capital’s diverse nightlife! How timeless the Bar Tausend is can be seen in the successful series “Babylon Berlin”. Without much change it appears there as the wicked nightclub “The Dutchman”.
The Tausend is well hidden behind a heavy iron door with the number “11! under the S-Bahn rails of Friedrichstraße. No light nor sign in the crepuscule under the rail lines give a hint to what is hiding behind the metal door with a bell to ring.
If you succeed in getting past the bouncer, you will experience excellent life music in an award-winning interior by the Berlin’s architects team Robertneun. The cocktails are named after trendy districts in international metropolises. Behind the counter, Karim Fadl as the new bar manager gives fresh ideas. Born in Berlin, Karim Fadl has already successfully demonstrated his mixological skills in the Shochu Bar, the Amano Bar and most recently in the Fifty Cocktails Heroes Bar, bringing together high-quality brands and bar operators as a consultant. In the back room of the bar, the Backroom Cantina restaurant offers a mix of Asian and Ibero-American cuisine.
With the new head chef Octavio Osés Bravo, CANTINA is now moving in a new culinary direction. The Argentinean, who has cooked himself a large fan base in the MANI with his tangible Culture-Clash cuisine, will now bring his aromatic dishes to the guests here. He remains true to his style with influences from the Levantine, Arabic and Mediterranean regions, but also plays with the long Asian tradition of CANTINA. On the menu you will find pulpo of black rice with harissa and chard, crudo of salmon with tomato, edamame and chilli or pork belly with Chinese cabbage and togarashi.
