Club der Visionäre is a wooden structure on the Flutgraben with a single floor where a maximum of fifty people can dance. There are also jetties over the water, a willow tree above the dance floor, and its own pizzeria. Among Berlin's techno clubs, it is the smallest and has the lowest entry fee; Ricardo Villalobos became famous here.
Club der Visionäre: fifty people on wood over the water
In 2001, Gregor Krämer and David Höhne transformed an old boathouse on the Flutgraben into a club that has since consisted primarily of wood: jetties, terraces, and a single small floor where a maximum of fifty people dance. A willow tree hangs above the dance floor, the water is beneath the planks, and the rest falls into place. In 2019, part of the wooden outdoor area burned down and was rebuilt. The club intentionally keeps its entry fee low, viewing it as a matter of accessibility rather than a revenue item. Between sixty and one hundred and twenty people work for the venue. The terrace is located where the Flutgraben and Spree converge, opposite the Arena and Badeschiff.
Minimal, Pizza, and a floating rose garden
Musically, the club stands for minimal and house with a jazzy touch, and for a booking practice that offers little lead time: line-ups are often only set one or two weeks in advance, and DJs tend to jam together rather than deliver fixed sets. Ricardo Villalobos became internationally known here, and Richie Hawtin has played here. In front of the club lies the Rosarium, a floating rose garden that is sound-reinforced by the club and can be rented, in addition to the Sonnenraum for concerts and its own pizzeria offering Marinara, Margherita, Gorgonzola, and Parma ham. The Omniversal Earkestra regularly performs here as a live band, and series like Zel at CDV, Rings Of Neptune, and Black.Round.Sunday also take place. The operator group also includes MS Hoppetosse, Anhalt von 1928, Bootshaus von 1901, and Salonschiff Rhein.
