Shortly after Germany’s reunification the history of this famous Berlin club started in the vault of the old Wertheim Department Store on Leipziger Platz. Famous DJs from Germany but also from Detroit or Chicago made the crowd dance here till condensed water started dripping from the vault’s ceiling. 2005 saw the last party in this venue since the Tresor had to make way for an office block.
Since 2007 the club has been housed in an abandoned heating plant on Köpenicker Straße and even some of the original safe deposit boxes of the old vault could be salvaged. The Tresor stays true to its musical roots but the public is not as scene-based as it used to be but much more a mixture of locals and tourists on the tracks of the old Berlin Techno movement.
