The Kilkenny at Hackescher Markt is one of the biggest Irish pubs in Berlin, that most traditionally have live music on Fridays and Saturdays, sporting events on the weekends and a wide range of Irish and German beer. Established in 1992 it was one of the first Irish pubs in the former East Berlin and enjoyed fast growing popularity. On St. Patrick’s Day the pub usually bursts the seams.
The interior is authentic, cozy, but no longer new. In the spacious pub the audience can spread over three rooms. In front there is the bar with a large copper kettle. Irish and German beer is offered as well as many international whiskeys, cocktails, wine and hot drinks. The menu starts with the Irish Pub Breakfast, sandwiches, soups, burgers and offers Irish classics such as cottage pie, Bangers & Mash (ie Irish sausages with mashed potatoes) or fish and chips in the evening.
The second room has a bar plus a stage where rock bands perform live. The third room is dedicated to sports. International sporting events are shown on large monitors.
As the Irish pub has a good train connection you can enjoy the broad whiskey and beer selection and will get home safely even without a car.
