This small Irish pub The Lir is tucked away in the basement of one of the few old buildings of Hansaviertel, normally dominated by modern architecture. The pub ist located very close to the S-station Bellevue. So one feels far away from tourist paths, but the pubs is easily reachable within just a couple of minutes with the S-Bahn leaving from Zoological Garden.
In summer you sit wind-protected and far away from the noise in the little beer garden under palm trees, some steps below the street level. In winter, a cozy fire is flickering through an open fireplace in the cozy Irish-styled dining room.
The drinks menu presents the classics like Guinness and Red Ale, but also German beer varieties, also good whiskeys are offered. The menu offers Irish specials such as Fish ‘n Chips, Shepherd’s Pie and Connemara Chicken, which is chicken breast baked with cheddar cheese. There are also classic home-made schnitzel and salads, served in the evening.
Berlin rugby fans, who want to pursue their sport on a large screen, will find their way to the Lir Arena, where rugby and Irish sport will be broadcast.
