The cozy Privatclub is located at the premises of an old post office on Skalitzer Straße, near the subway station Schlesisches Tor in Kreuzberg. The owner of the Privatclub and thoroughbred musician Norbert Jackschenties, former member of the Berlin band Fleischmann, was able to rebuild and set up the club according to his ideas despite the prevailing monument protection regulations. In a living-room-atmosphere with 70s décor, visitors experience the small concerts, events and parties. The interior of the club is kept in dark red and is rather small: 250 people fit in here. The bar is well stocked, the staff friendly and the entrance and drink prices fair.
Today, the club enjoys a good international reputation among newcomer bands. The private club presents hand-picked, up-and-coming bands that are off the beaten track. Musically, styles from the 80s, Hip Hop, Soul and Funk to honest rock’n’roll take place. There are also parties twice a week.
The glittering music era of the 60s is celebrated at the party series Twist and Shout, which takes place regularly in the Privatclub. Whether it’s David Bowie, James Brown, The Hollies or The Zombies, there’s something for every rock’n’roll fanatical. Concerts by bands such as The View, The Dears, Ivan & The Parazol or The Greasy Slicks put Guests in a proper rock’n’roll mood.
