Salsa4Water calls itself “the only charitable Salsa dance school in Berlin”. All dance teachers, organizers and even helpers are volunteers. All profit is donated to WaterAid, wo fights for equal access to safe drinking water. Funds raised by Salsa4Water support Water Aid projects in Ethiopia.
The concept of the dance school is to offer open classes. Dancers can join classes anytime without registration. Those interested in salsa can simply come by, just dressed as they are, there is no dresscode at school.
Another advantage in the single capital Berlin: With Salsa4Water you can also learn Salsa without a dance partner, although Salsa is taught at school as a dance for couples. The idea is simple. Even if the number of participants is not completely balanced, here everyone dances with everyone, because the teachers of Salsa4Water are convinced that the right way to learn a couple dance is to change partners often, also to deal with the different personal dance styles. Even without any previous knowledge you get to know the basic steps and also new Salsa figures.
There are three courses, beginners, impovers and advanced. The salsa courses take place in the rooms of the Kreativhaus in Berlin-Mitte. There is no monthly subscription or course fees like in other schools, you pay for a single lesson or buy a ten-ticket. The money goes to WaterAid. The language of instruction is English.
