The Be’kech in the Exerzierstraße in Wedding is Berlin’s first anti-café. Anti-Café means that you will pay for nothing but the time of your stay in the café. For only 5 cents a minute you can work for free, meet people or celebrate events here. The mission of the café is to create a social meeting place for artists, freelancers and entrepreneurs. The idea is to provide a cozy restaurant where guests feel like in their own living room rather than focusing on the financial aspect.
Guests of the Be’kech can use the free internet, work in the cozy co-working space, network, enjoy drinks, vegan and vegetarian food for free and relax on the cozy cushions. For breakfast there is a buffet with cereals, bread rolls, fruit and cheese. Also at noon the visitors of the café are treated with culinary delights. If you would like to bring something from home, you can use the provided microwave and toaster. The printers as well as the weekly events such as readings, concerts or workshops are freely accessible for guests, but the meeting rooms are reserved for Be’kech members.
The regular rate in Be’kech is 5 cents a minute, but you can also buy a day ticket for 15 euros. If you do not want to buy a full membership for 220 euros a month, you can also get a 10 day ticket for 120 euros.
Fun Fact: The name of the anti-café is made up of the hometowns of the two owners: Berlin and Marrakech – Be’kech!
