I researched my way through Berlin's most beautiful wedding locations and realised just how versatile the city is. From the cathedral in Mitte to the country house at the edge of the forest in Frohnau, every place felt like a small promise of an unforgettable day. Here are my ten favourites for everyone who wants to get married in Berlin.
The French Friedrichstadt Church, built in 1705, stands directly on Gendarmenmarkt with its dome tower from 1785. The Grand Hall measures 720 square meters and accommodates 220 guests at long tables, plus two smaller halls and an inner courtyard. For a romantic wedding in Berlin-Mitte, this means: the backdrop is already set before the first flower is hung.
The heritage-protected warehouse at Osthafen dates back to 1913, and the Golf Lounge's terrace is right on the Spree with a view of the Oberbaumbrücke. Up to 150 guests celebrate here, catered by the in-house kitchen. As a romantic wedding venue in Berlin-Friedrichshain, the building offers a unique activity: hitting golf balls into the illuminated Spree.
The Gründerzeit villa Am Sandwerder is situated above the Großer Wannsee, with its garden extending to a private jetty. Up to 86 guests can celebrate in the house, and 34 can stay overnight in the 17 rooms, with double rooms starting from 88 Euros. For a romantic wedding in Berlin, this means: a ceremony on the shore, and no one has to travel across the city at night.
Bernhard Sehring, architect of the Theater des Westens, built the villa in 1903 for the Habel brewing family; since 1988, the Starke Art Foundation has been located there. The bourgeois house from 1567 was moved stone by stone to Märkisches Ufer in the sixties; its Rococo rooms remained. The manor house from 1706 is located in a 1.8-hectare park with a historic manor farm in Britz.
