Café Einstein Unter den Linden is not only seen as the official back room of politics, where often background conversations with journalists and political friends are held, it’s also a meeting point for international celebrities.
Actress Jodie Foster, Dennis Hopper or former US-President Bill Clinton have been seen here. The same goes for German celebrities like star photographer Jim Rakete, director Wim Wenders or writer Henryk M. Broder who always orders Kaiserschmarrn and hot chocolate at the Einstein. These two specialities along with the great coffee and the fresh appel strudel are some of the best sellers of the café which mal definitely make your stay in Berlin a sweet one, even if there is no celebrity in.
The fact that the creative crowd feels at home in the café wie a Viennese atmosphere, is largely due to the owner Gerald Uhlig Romero, himself an accomplished artist who has his own gallery inside the Einstein.
Good to know: The Einstein Unter den Linen actually used to be a dependancy of the older Einstein on Kurfürstenstraße, but it’s is run by different owners.
Top10 Berlin tip: Really relaxing is a breakfast at the Einstein, you can read one of their many free newspapers or try the Afternoon Tea there with tea, sandwiches and home-made little tartes.
