“Home of Vinyl Lovers” is written in big letters over an abundance of records, next to it floats a terrestrial globe painted on the wall. You can already tell, Dodo Beach in Berlin-Schöneberg is more than just an ordinary record store, you enter a vinyl universe here. “Vinyl only” is the motto of this beautiful store.
The shop is located, almost hidden behind purple blossoming bushes, in the quiet Vorbergstraße quite in the middle of the subway stations Kleistpark and Eisenacher on the ground floor of a dignified old building in Berlin-Schöneberg. When you step over the threshold, you already suspect that it is difficult to get away from here again. The abundance of records that awaits you is quite impressive. On about 200 square meters you can rummage in about 40,000 records here. There is actually no musical genre that is not served at all.
At Dodo Beach the collector will find gets everything that is real music: rock, pop, funk, soul, hip hop & electro, but also ska and reggae, blues & jazz and world music. In the back room, the “red salon”, where the second hand records are located, you can even find some German records beyond the mainstream. If you venture to go down to the basement, which had to be renovated after a burst pipe and has now reopened, you will find an enormous selection of metal and punk records.
The Dodo Beach Record Store in Berlin-Schöneberg was founded in 2013 and is now an established vinyl record store. The record store is a project of Trinity Music owner Thomas Spindler, who returns to his roots with it. Since Record Store Day 2018 there is a second store in East Berlin. This store is called Dodo Beach East. At both Dodo Beach stores you can also buy selected concert and event tickets for Berlin.
