Companion Tee in the Oranienstraße in Berlin-Kreuzberg has made it its business to promote fairness in the tea trade and therefore offers pure teas from fair and direct trade.
The two owners Shawn Barber and Chris Onton, who also run Companion Coffee at the same location, want to offer tea beyond the usual mass-produced goods and work directly with selected tea gardens and tea farmers. On regular tea trips to Japan, Taiwan, Nepal, Indonesia and India the Companion Tea founders got to know the different regions of origin of their teas personally.
The teas they finally select are of high quality: small quantities of tea of an agreed variety, from which the leaves of selected shrubs are harvested on individual fixed days of a month.
The collected information such as the origin of the tea, harvest time, cultivation method and producers of their tea varieties make Barber and Onton openly accessible. With this transparency, the owners want to promote the appreciation of their customers for the high-quality product tea.
Tea fans can try and buy the fair tea varieties at Barber and Onton’s Café in the Kreuzberg Voo Store. In addition to selected coffees, the two tea enthusiasts also offer a seasonal tea menu and teas for purchase at home.
In addition, their customers have the opportunity to further their education in tea tastings and trainings.
