Sultan Hamam: Warming Up on Heated Marble

The journey to Sultan Hamam is a small adventure. A sign on a large industrial building on Bülowstraße in Schöneberg points the way; the bathhouse is located between offices of advertising agencies and gyms. Behind the door, the contrast is striking: a sober corridor with concrete walls leads into a warmly lit entrance area where soft music and the scent of soap and massage oil fill the room.

The centerpiece is the steam hamam, unique in Berlin in this form. The traditional navel stone, the Göbek Tasi, and all other marble benches are heated, allowing the warmth to penetrate deep into the body through the natural stone. This is followed by a scrub and soap wash; steam and dry saunas are also part of the classic ritual program.

Packages, Prices, and Oriental Lounge at Sultan Hamam

The offerings are extensive: a steam bath, an 80-degree sauna, and several relaxation rooms. The Gül package includes three hours of admission, a scrub, and a 25-minute massage for 79 Euros. The Sultan package provides four hours of admission, including a scrub, soaping, and a 60-minute massage.

Basic admission costs 28 Euros for three hours and 42 Euros for five hours. In the oriental lounge, there is fresh tea from the samovar and small snacks. On six days a week, Sultan Hamam is exclusively open for women; on Wednesdays from 5 PM, it is also open for men. For massages, booking two to three weeks in advance is recommended.
