A warm summer evening on Berlin-Kreuzberg's Admiralbrücke is for many Berliners and tourists alike the definition of romance of the big city - though residents might disagree.

The Hotel the YARD is hidden behind a quiet residential street in Alexandrinenstraße in Kreuzberg. The boutique hotel impresses with bright, natural design, a green courtyard, and a wellness area that is hard to beat after a long day of sightseeing.

Möbel Olfe in Berlin-Kreuzberg is a lively scene bar that, as a former furniture store, now offers an alternative LGBTIQ* drinking hall with charming raw construction character. Here, a diverse community gathers, with Tuesday's women's evenings and Thursday's gay nights especially ensuring a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere.

From 1933 to 1945 the Gestapo, the SS leadership and the Reich Security Main Office sat on this site at Niederkirchnerstrasse. Today there are excavated cellars, a site tour with fifteen stations and around 200 metres of the Berlin Wall. Admission and guided tours are free for school classes. Where Kreuzberg meets the Spree, one of Berlin's most glamorous club restaurants resides: Spindler & Klatt, in a former industrial hall on Köpenicker Straße, has been attracting celebrities from all over the world to the banks of the Mediaspree for years. Since 1892, the Marheineke Markthalle in the Bergmannkiez has represented what Kreuzberg is all about: down-to-earthness, cosmopolitanism, and quality under one roof. Across approximately 2,500 m², regional organic products meet international street food stalls, fresh pasta meets Turkish börek, and Greek cuisine meets Arabian specialties.

Bi Nuu is located directly in the heritage-listed Schlesisches Tor U-Bahn station from 1902 and is named after the third album by the band Ideal. The concert hall holds 500 people and is so soundproofed that nothing can be heard from the trains overhead. Among the indie clubs in Berlin, Bi Nuu is the one with the biggest leap between two evenings.

The Tomasa is one of the highlights of Berlin's breakfast cafés. On Valentine's Day 2019, the Valentine's menu "Heart and Arrow" will be offered.
